“Animal Husbandry and Working to Conserve Wildlife”

This workshop focuses on what is largely an unknown career field to high school students of animal husbandry. The workshop highlights what it means to take care of wild exotic and often dangerous animals. It shows the good, the fun, the bad and the dangerous sides of this career path and touches on other career paths in the animal care team at the zoo such as curators, veterinarians, keepers, nutritionists and animal behavioral professionals.

The National Zoo has demonstrating leadership in animal care, science, education, and sustainability. The zoo provides the highest quality animal care and advances research and scientific knowledge in conserving wildlife.  They teach and inspire people to protect wildlife, natural resources, and habitats and practice conservation leadership in all we do.
